About the Book:
Historical romance writer, Lenore Held, AKA, LaSandra Lacy, feeling the need to step into the present century, both personally and professionally, has agreed to co-author a steamy contemporary romance with male author, MP Finnegan.
As sparks begin to fly, on and off the written page, the world around them turns into utter chaos.
Her son’s father, Senator Byron Maxwell, makes an appearance in her life after an almost 22-year absence.
Theirs was the proverbial bad clique of a Washington romance: the gentrified, conservative, womanizing statesman and the beautiful, brilliant but naive, starry eyed intern, who had the bad taste to become pregnant with his child. He pretended they didn’t exist, until now. Now he wants something from her, something that isn’t hers to give.
Add to that a media play gone horribly wrong, a stalker, home invasion, and unhinged family members of the senator’s and Lenore and MP’s life together begins to resemble a book plot. Unlike a book, the turmoil that surrounds them is real and deadly.

A very married Senator Byron Maxwell is the father of Lenore's son, Nathan. Absent after 20+ years, the good Senator seeks something from Lenore, except what he wants isn't hers to give. The request forces Lenore's hand in revealing to Nathan who exactly his father really is so that he can decide how to move forward. If only things were so simple. What ensues is a scandal of epic proportions - a PR nightmare - and events that put Lenore, Nathan, and MP in danger.
Another Notch in the Beltway is a romantic suspense novel that keeps the reader on their toes for sure. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the novel as Lenore, Nathan, and MP navigated through the life of politics and crazy family members. The characters are likeable (even the not-so-nice ones) and the communication and dialogue between everyone is smooth and conversational.
The book is engaging and pulled me in from the very beginning. I had an inkling of who may have been responsible prior to any official reveal but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. There are ample amounts of tension, romance, and suspense and the passion is off the charts. Lenore and MP have realistic chemistry and mannerisms. I enjoyed reading Another Notch in the Beltway.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
