In book eleven of her New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin series, author Jennifer Estep continues “one of the best urban fantasy series going on the market” (Fresh Fiction).
Gin Blanco is hard-nosed, sexy, and lethal. Nicknamed “The Spider,” she’s a stone elemental assassin who brings her unique mix of magic and tact to every assignment, no matter the target.
There’s a new drug on the streets of Ashland, and its name “Burn” sums up the potent effect it has on its users. When one of her restaurant employees is threatened by dealers of the drug, Gin steps in to set things straight…

For the last several books it's clear that all Gin wants is to run her BBQ joint. Unfortunately, her alter ego, The Spider, has a huge reputation throughout Ashland as an assassin to be reckoned with and therein lies the problem. Now, there is a new drug on the streets of Ashland. "Burn" is the latest method of getting high and it's all the craze. Gin doesn't concern herself with it too much until one of her good employees, Catalina, gets caught up with one of the pushers. Troy. When Gin rescues Catalina from a potential ambush by Troy and his vampire goons, she gets more than she bargained for. It appears that Troy is working for drug kingpin, Beauregard Benson - and now Gin knows who's peddling "Burn" throughout Ashland.
Beauregard Benson proves to be a formidable foe but he may not be the manufacturer. Gin is determined to figure out who is and put a stop to the distribution before everyone feels the "Burn". Action and suspense fill the pages as Gin puts her life on the line to protect her family, Catalina, and Catalina's family.
Poison Promise is another fantastic installment of the Elemental Assassin series Gin is my favorite urban fantasy bad ass. She's hard and serious but her moments with her family are tender and loving. Messing with her family and loved ones is the absolute wrong thing to do if you want to preserve your life but people keep testing her....and lose every time.
I really enjoy the Elemental Assassin series. The entire series has pulled me in and kept me engaged from the very beginning. These are the types of books that have me longing for the next one. They are written with vivid descriptions and genuine feelings, allowing the reader to become totally immersed in this world.
