About Trust Me:

Shelly Marie Dixon is a woman with a scary past. Literally. Never able to settle in one place because of the man set on tormenting her. After five years of struggling to move on with her life, she goes back to the man she left years ago. Hopefully, he will help her and not brush her aside.

Adam Wilder, eldest brother and co-founder of D.A.R.K Cover, Inc., never in his wildest dreams expected to find his lost love sitting in the lobby of his company building. No way he’s letting her face this danger alone. If it takes all of D.A.R.K’s resources he will risk it. Whatever it takes to keep her safe. Problem is, will he be able to keep it professional, because one look at her and he wants to go back to how things were, way back when.

The only way that is going to happen is if she’ll believe him when he says: “Trust me.”

My Review:

No matter where she runs, Shelly Marie Dixon is always looking over her shoulder. Her stalker has been able to find her no matter what. When she finds his calling card at her latest residence, Shelly Marie knows that her only choice is to seek out protection from Adam.

Adam can't believe that the woman he loves is in D.A.R.K. Cover, Inc. It boils his blood knowing that she's there because a psychopath won't leave Shelly Marie alone. Adam makes it known that he will make sure Shelly Marie is safe and the threat to her will be disposed any manner necessary.

Please note that I have not read Book 1 in the series. It doesn't, however, detract from Trust Me. There wasn't anything in the book that seemed like I needed to read book 1 to understand. I really enjoyed the story of Shelly Marie and Adam.

There were some rushed scenes and choppy dialogue but the story is so fascinating that it's easy to move beyond the discomfort. Aliyah Burke created a realistic environment filled with realistic scenarios and emotional content. I was genuinely concerned for our heroine as she tried to stay one step ahead of her stalker. Her reunion with Adam was heart-wrenching as Shelly Marie explained why she came to him.

Adam goes into full protective mode and guarantees her safety as long as Shelly Marie is with him and his family. His guarantee comes complete with "trust me" but Adam isn't sure she believes he can keep her safe. When the situation turns dangerous, Adam and Shelly Marie, along with Adam's brothers have to figure out how to stay safe - if they can.

The story flows well and is engaging. The emotional content is realistic and the complications draw on those emotions.  I enjoyed reading Trust Me.  At a short 68 pages, Trust Me can easily be read in one sitting.
