My Review:

Dodge Loving runs an exclusive and very private retreat for high profile celebrities. He's on the verge of closing a huge luxury resort contract; one that will crush his long absent, prejudiced grandfather. There isn't any room or time for complications or distractions. If Dodge can impress upon the luxury corporation that The Retreat is safe, secure, and discreet, they will sign with him instead of his grandfather.

Harper Conner is a political princess who's had enough of the spotlight. She grew up in the political world and married into it, as well. When confronted by her scandalous ex-husband and subsequently slapping him on live television, she relishes a job opportunity that takes her out of the spotlight. Hired by the mother of the president of an exclusive retreat, Harper is away from the paparazzi and is cataloging and authenticating books in The Retreat's vast library. That is, until the journalists find her and Dodge tries to fire her.

Sparks fly between Dodge and Harper even as they deny them all while trying to get the upper hand. Dodge needs Harper gone and Harper needs to stay away from the prying eyes of the camera lenses.

Dodge's mother, May, however, has plans for Dodge and it involves him falling in love with Harper. She's exactly the woman he needs and May, along with Dodge's two brothers all know this to be true. They just have to convince one extremely stubborn man to focus his energy on Harper instead of revenge.

I enjoyed Dodging Temptation for the most part - I say most part because Dodge Loving can be sooo infuriating. Harper is feisty and doesn't put up with Dodge's attitude, though. She's sensitive and caring but has seen so much in her life that she finds her staying at The Retreat as part of a rejuvenation period. She has another job lined up in Washington D.C. and this is just a small stop on the blueprints she's created to rebuild her life. Love is most definitely not part of the plan - even if the man in question does have, as Avery Flynn states, "totally lickable abs."

Dodge, however, makes me crazy during some of the scenes. Not the crazy to rip his clothes off crazy (well, maybe that kind of crazy, too), but crazy to tell him off and walk away. He's not all bad but his cynical, revenge-laden attitude is not at all attractive. He does have some redeeming moments and the true chemistry between Dodge and Harper is H.O.T. As his character develops, there are definite changes in his thought patterns and ideals.

Dodging Temptation has a wonderful supporting cast. Dodge's new-age mother is a fantastic addition to The Retreat. Her plan to unite Harper and Dodge via the universe breaks up the novel a bit and takes a shortcut around Dodge's stress and his obsession with revenge. Dodge's brothers, Stone and Griff, are pretty entertaining and I can't wait to read their stories. There is a rock musician that is staying at The Retreat in the book, too, and he manages to get some great screen time. As the book unfolds, Dodge learns a few things, Harper discovers more about herself, and a lot happens.

I love the fact that Dodge and Harper connected at a slow pace instead of a love at first sight speed. Of course, the book is less than 200 pages so the matchmaking happens quickly but it takes time rather than being an insta-match. This is a fast paced spicy romance that will leave you shaking your head, laughing, and needing a cold shower. Get ready for a wild stay at The Retreat!

This book contains adult scenes and adult language. I would advise this only be read by those 18+.
