About the Book:

To begin with, I’m not a nice girl. Don’t get me wrong, I used to be a nice girl. I used to be kind, and helpful, considerate and thoughtful. The kind of girl who went to all of her boyfriend’s games, even though she hates basketball; the kind of girl who helped her boyfriend study for his English final while she should have been studying for her own calculus final; the kind of girl that the boys at school lovingly call, oh, what’s that cute little name they have for us again? Oh, yes—Doormat.

15 year-old Emy Garnett has come up with the perfect revenge for the super-popular boyfriend who dumped her–on Facebook, no less! Emy has purchased a love spell from a local gypsy, and is now armed with a foolproof plan guaranteed to win him back… with a few, hilarious bumps along the way.

My Review:

After 15-year-old Emy is dumped by her boyfriend, Devinm via Facebook, she's bound and determined to win him back.  ~~ Even it if it means using a love potion on him.  ~~ Even if it means spending more money than she really has.  ~~Even if Devin isn't worth it.  ~~Even if there is someone else out there that may be a better match for her.

EMy's approach at revenge toward the teenager that broke her heart is nothing short of entertaining. The love potion is specific in how to perform the acts required for it to work.  These actions are humorous as Emy tries to do what needs to be done to restore the relationships that she so desperately things she deserves have.  See, Emy is a typical teen navigating the new world of teenage romance.  No one wants to lose their boyfriend/girlfriend to someone else.  Yet, as the story progresses we see a little bit of, dare I say, maturity in Emy.  When it's all said and done, will Emy have Devin back or will she stand up on her own two feet and realize that she doesn't need a boyfriend in her life that doesn't appreciate her?

There is just something about the way E. Van Lowe writes.  I haven't been disappointed in anything of his that I've read.  His young adult novels in the Falling Angels Saga were spectacular and it was hard to put them down.

I Want You Back is just as good.  E's writing style is conversationally pleasing - with that I mean that his books are written in a voice that is like an everyday, casual conversation you would have with anyone.  The dialogue between characters is interesting and understandable.  The story flowed and will certainly keep the reader engaged.  There is an underlying message or moral to the story, as well.

If you're looking for a nice, entertaining short story, then look no further.  E Van Lowe rocks the house.
