5-Star ARC Review: Club Nexus (Ivy Granger, Book 2.5) by E.J. Stevens

Club Nexus (Ivy Granger #2.5) by E.J. Stevens

A demon, an Unseelie faerie, and a vampire walk into a bar...

ICED

A bargain gone wrong leads a highborn Unseelie faerie to life as an enslaved bartender with a taste for revenge.

DUSTED

Being a highly skilled predator doesn't necessarily put you at the top of the food chain at Club Nexus. A southern vampire with a hankering for blood and wanton violence may have bit off more than he can chew.

DEMONIZED

The demon attorney we love to hate has his eye on a certain rockabilly human. Too bad she's brought a crossbow loaded with holy water dipped bolts for this night on the town.

JINXED

Just when Jinx needs a carefree girl's night out with Ivy, a smoking hot demon tries to buy her a drink. She really is the unluckiest human on the planet.

This Ivy Granger ebook special contains short stories set in Club Nexus, the hidden haunt of Harborsmouth's paranormal underworld.

Release Date: December 3, 2013

Club Nexus promises to thrill and tantalize fans of the Ivy Granger series.

Sapphyria's Review:

I've been an Ivy Granger fan since Book 1.  You can find my reviews of the other books in this series by clicking the following links:

Each individual short story told in Club Nexus is basically the same story. What makes this compilation of shorts stories so magnificent, though, is that the author retells each story from a different character's point-of-view.

Iced is told from the POV of an Unseelie fairie that, throughout the entire set of stories, remains nameless. She has done something that has caused her to be beholden to Puck as a slave and now seeks revenge against him. When the long absent Queen of the Unseelie court comes to her and instructs her to end the life of Puck, she's all to eager. All does not go as planned, however.

Dusted is told from the POV of a vampire name Cyrus.  Cyrus is not a follower and as such has decidedly gone to Puck to feed a habit that is strictly forbidden by Vampire Law.  His actions in the basement of Club Nexus interrupt an attempted murder, get him tossed about by a very upset demon, and eventually he ends up on the business end of something unfavorable.

Jinxed is told from the POV of Jinx, I'vy's sidekick with a deep attraction to a very frustrating demon. Wouldn't you have to know that he would walk into the bar she was in?!  Knowing something wrong was going down in the basement of Club Nexus, Jinx descends the stairs....and right into the middle of an Unseelie fairie, an angry vampire, a demon protector, and Puck.  Making it out of the basement alive, since Jinx is all human, may not be on the menu that night.

Demonized is told from the POV of Forneus - the badass and smokin' hot demon with a love-hate relationship with Ivy's sidekick, Jinx. He's trying to get the drop on Puck when he's suddenly thrust into protector mode.  The ending of this short story is heart-wrenching and I really hope that E.J. Stevens continues to explore the chemistry between these two characters.

I was easily drawn into the world of Ivy Granger, and even though she's only in these as a secondary character, the short stories are great.  Forneus and Jinx, are fantastic supporting secondary characters and I'm glad we were given some short stories focused mainly on them.  I really enjoyed Club Nexus and read the 45 pages in a very short time.  I was completely engrossed in the book and never put it down once in order to do anything else.

I highly recommend the entire Ivy Granger series and cannot wait for Book 3, Burning Bright.
