VBT ~ Author Post and Book Spotlight: Just Like Heaven by Barbara Bretton (Presented by Bewitching Book Tours)

I am truly honored to have Barbara Bretton on my blog today!
I have read her Sugar Maple series and love it.

Please welcome Barbara as she talks to us about love at first sight:

I'm not sure how or when it happened but love at first sight, that time-honored standard of romance novels, has fallen into disfavor.
"Love at first sight?" a high-school friend of mine said (complete with eye-roll) when I asked her about it. "Impossible!"
Another friend, younger than us and happily single, just laughed. "Oh, love at first sight is real," she said, "but it goes away as soon as the margaritas wear off."
A third friend, older and wiser, nodded. "I've experienced love at first sight," she said with a wicked grin. "Five times. I highly recommend it."
Of course, as any romance reader or writer knows, that's not the kind of love at first sight I'm talking about.
I mean The Big Love. The coup de foudre, the thunderbolt that comes out of nowhere and stops you dead in your tracks, changing your life forever.
Do you believe in it?
Have you ever locked eyes with a stranger across a crowded room and felt the ground shift beneath your feet?
Have you ever seen your future reflected back at you in his eyes?
Cynics might shake their heads and laugh, but it happens every day.
Some call it destiny. Some call it fate. Some call it random chance.
Whatever you choose to call it, love at first sight is very real.
I've written many books that begin with that magical moment when the futures of two strangers collide in an explosion of romantic sparks that sweep our hero and heroine toward their happy ending.
Kate and Mark, the hero and heroine of JUST LIKE HEAVEN, are a perfect case in point. Kate is the mother of a grown daughter. She's divorced, not unhappy about that fact, and devoted to French Kiss, the highly successful northern New Jersey antique shop that is the focus of her life. Kate is disciplined, logical, and enjoying her life exactly the way it is.
Mark is a widowed Episcopal priest without a congregation. A recovering alcoholic, Mark left his New England home to make a new life for himself in New Jersey. Love? That's not anywhere on his horizon and he's okay with that fact.
And that's where fate (destiny?) steps in and turns their lives inside out.
A warm spring morning. A jet-lagged entrepreneur. A man in the right place at the right time. When Kate passes out between two parked cars, Mark springs into action and not only saves her life, but saves his own life as well.

And one more thing: today is a very special day for me and not because it's Income Tax Day. This is the anniversary of the day I met my husband at a high school dance.  You know the rest. Eyes across a crowded room. The big thunderbolt that stopped us in our tracks.
Yep. Love at first sight.
Forty-something years and growing strong.
I wish you the same!

Thank you so much for being on Sapphyria's Book Reviews today!

Because love can happen anywhere . . .

Even in New Jersey!

A beautiful morning in early spring. What could possibly go wrong?

Just returned from a buying trip in England, Kate French was jet-lagged and exhausted and running on fumes. She was already running late for an appointment but a wave of dizziness forced her to pull into the shopping mall parking lot in search of a quick fix of caffeine and protein.

When the pain first hit, she ignored it and continued racing across the parking lot toward the food court. But within moments she realized something was terribly wrong as her wobbly legs gave out and she dropped to the ground. The last thing she remembered as she started to fade away was the guy in the Grateful Dead T-shirt who held her in his arms and promised he'd never let her go.

Mark Kerry didn't think of himself as a hero but the story of a Good Samaritan who had saved a woman's life in the parking lot of the Princeton Promenade was attaining the status of suburban legend. Determined to return a stack of documents that had been left behind when the ambulance swept her away, he called in some favors and tracked her down at home one week later.

The moment Kate saw him again, the world and everyone in it disappeared. She knew his voice, the smell of his skin, the way his hands felt against her skin, the taste of his mouth, everything that mattered. All the things she would ever need to know about him.

And then she took another look . . .
